 Students should

• apply theoretical knowledge to practical and real-world problems in ocean science, effectively integrating academic learning with professional work 
• deepen their technical and scientific knowledge in a specific area of ocean science, conservation, or innovation, under the guidance of their supervisor and through the execution of a hypothesis-driven research project
• develop strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating the ability to adapt to new challenges and environments
• manage their project tasks and deadlines, showing reliability and a professional approach to conducting scientific research and/or development tasks
• develop strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders in a professional environment
• establish and expand their professional networks through interactions with academic, conservation, and/or industry professionals, which can facilitate future career opportunities and collaborations
• assess their personal interests and abilities in relation to the demands and opportunities of the job market in their field of study
• communicate complex science ideas and findings clearly and effectively, both in written form (thesis manuscript) and verbally (oral defense)
• create outreach content that communicates the relevance and implications of their research to a broader audience
