- When you arrive in France

Within the two months following arrival on French territory, you must request a residence certificate "Certificat de résidence Algérien Scientifique/Chercheur" . This certificate will be valid for one year and you will to renew it each year during the period covered by the hosting agreement (convention d'accueil) issued by your host institution.
How to apply for the residence certificate ?
The Welcome Center can assist you with this procedure:
You need to request your residence card within the two month after your arrival in France. The prefecture migth apply an additional late fee. To complete your file, it is a good idea to go through the Welcome Center to validate the contents together.
Please note that for the moment the online deposit is not yet possible for Algerian researchers and their spouses. Please contact the Welcome Center for information on how to send your request to the prefecture.
Delivery of the card:It usually takes around 3 months to obtain the resident card. The Préfecture will inform you by text message or email, when the resident card is ready. You will then need to retrieve the "Certificat de Résidence" in person at the Préfecture des Alpes Maritimes
The Algerian scientist is exempt of taxes and the fiscal stamp on the residence card for the first request.

Your spouse receives a Visa with the mention “Conjoint de Scientifique”. Within the two months following arrival in France, your spouse must request a residence certificate ("Certificat de résidence Algérien - Vie Privée et Familiale"). This certificate will be valid for one year and your spouse will to renew it each year during the period covered by the hosting agreement (convention d'accueil) issued by your host institution.

You will need to pay a tax of 225 € in fiscal stamps (fiscal stamps can be bought in Tobacco shops or online) when you retrieve the card.
Your Algerian spouse will also need to pay 225 € in fiscal stamps (fiscal stamps can be bought in Tobacco shops or online) for the renewal of their residence certificate.
