Investment in Coral Reef Ecosystem Management
Blue Finance, multiple locations
Supervisors
Nicolas Pascal, Blue Finance
Context
Blue finance develops solutions for the effective management and sustainable financing of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). We’re working with different Governments and co-management entities worldwide to strengthen the implementation and financing of revenue mechanisms for MPAs.
Bf has implemented an impact investment solution for the sustainable use of 800,000ha of marine resources in the Dominican Republic through the effective management of one of the largest Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Caribbean.
Bf seeks to upscale the approach to other 5 MPAs by 2021 in developing countries (with a final aim to 20 MPAs by 2030). The 5 MPAs have relevant works already underway.
Bf is a social enterprise that works under the institutional flagship of United Nations and has forged strong partnerships with Mirova-Althelia (impact investors) and the Paul Allen foundation.
