Campus and community life

Quality of student life and valorization of student commitment

Propelled by UCAJEDI, student life is becoming a strong component of the university's strategy, a factor of differentiation and attractiveness in a competitive higher education environment. In order to adopt a transversal and coordinated approach to the issues of community life, well-being and a sense of belonging, Université Côte d'Azur has set up a Department of University Life, in cooperation with relevant participants.
Its missions are as follows:

  • All students make a contribution to the community and are given credit for this in their studies
  • Support for the creation of structuring interdisciplinary and inter-member associations
  • Student Engagment Center: to promote a sense of belonging and social engagement among students, each student will be given a UCA-assigned responsibility (student tutoring, mentoring and orientation, disability assistance, etc.)
  • Promotion of positive and preventative health and care is coordinated by Université Côte d'Azur for its members
  • Université Côte d'Azur has its own sports teams made up of students from all UCA members who participate in local, national and international university championships
  • UCA Member Alumni Confederation
  • UCA Student Pass: priority access to major events in the area (sport, cinema, culture, expo, etc.)
  • Université Côte d'Azur will appoint students with exceptional commitment or performance as ambassadors.
  • Université Côte d'Azur will hold a major annual artistic event
  • Upgrading both the quality and quantity of UCA sports facilities.

Student engagement

UCAJEDI has enabled the launch of the Engagement Center, a one-of-a-kind initiative in France, which aims to promote and facilitate the involvement of students in the accomplishment of volunteer activities that are in addition to their studies and consistent with the values promoted by Université Côte d'Azur. From 2018 to 2020, more than 1,200 students were involved in nearly 100 initiatives of general interest, with a satisfaction rate of 95% and nearly 90% expressed a desire to go further with this commitment (via a Commitment Bonus of 0.25 points for 20 hours of commitment).

Campus life

The quality of life on campuses for all users (students, staff, visitors) has been completely rethought and improved under the impetus of IDEX actions.

Design your campus

A call for projects "Design your campus" has been opened to all UCA students so that they can propose an idea or project to change, improve, and enliven their campus. Among the project evaluation criteria, we have prioritized eco-responsibility, culture, impact, and inclusion. Nearly 30 proposals were submitted with a focus on eco-responsibility and citizenship. 2 projects will be financed:
- Uniway, to enable students with disabilities to find their way around campus
- UCA tutorial, to create video tutorials for incoming students to facilitate their administrative processes

Eco-responsible campuses and laboratories

The mission of the eco-responsible campuses and laboratories is to bring together all the university's stakeholders and to construct the eco-responsible and innovative university of tomorrow. The project consists of several dimensions: Awareness and information actions. Implementation of new methodologies. Research and innovation in order to reduce, recycle and best manage the university's waste. Commitment to eco-responsible campuses and labs. Throughout the 2018-2019 year, students and staff alike had the opportunity to participate in recurrent DIY workshops. Eco-responsible events that bring together our whole community are also held on all UCA campuses, with local projects such as composting, gardens and permaculture, campus recycling, adaptation of the precious plastic-like concept, etc. UCA zero waste ambassador kits are also available for all students and staff who want to get more involved.
