Publications Rules

All publications and productions from the laboratories, research teams or creation of Université Côte d'Azur  must include the ANR reference and above all, mention the joint signature of  Université Côte d'Azur members. The use of a common signature is imperative: most notably, it will help ensure the recognition of Université Côte d’Azur  by its peers and its presence in international rankings. The Université Côte d’Azur  governance will be extremely vigilant concerning the use of the common signature, and will implement all necessary means to ensure that it is correctly applied.

To mention IDEX funding

In addition to respecting the UCA scientific signature, publications and communications from projects financed in whole or in part by the IDEX UCAjedi and the Academy must bear the following words:

"This work was supported by the French government through the France 2030 investment plan managed by the National Research Agency (ANR), as part of the Initiative of Excellence Université Côte d’Azur under reference number ANR15-IDEX-01."

Here is its French version to be used for publications in French:

Reminder on signature's formation

Université Côte d’Azur has elected to use the following order:

1/ First, it is desirable that the name Université Côte d’Azur is listed; the abbreviation "UCA" cannot be used because it is already in use by other institutions.

2/ Next, the names of the establishment or organization that the laboratory or research team belongs to should be listed—with the exception of the Université Nice Sophia Antipolis. At this level, it may be relevant (with the exception of UNS teacher-researchers) to begin with the employing establishments.

3/ Then, it must be followed by the abbreviated name of the laboratory, and that name only. Do not include extended laboratory names, UMR or Inserm unit numbers, etc.

4/ Finally, the address should be limited to the country only. The extended name of the laboratory and its different identifying numbers, as well as the complete address of the laboratory, should therefore be provided in a footnote (unless another format is imposed by the journal or publisher).

Signature examples

Université Côte d’Azur has adopted a policy by which affiliations should be listed in descending order (from the most broadly encompassing structure to the smallest), and using a single-line presentation. These choices are perfectly in line with the modes of operation of the latest search engines. Caution: Referring to two universities in succession would halve the impact of the publication in international rankings.
Examples:

  • A UNS teacher-researcher at the iBV: Université Côte d’Azur, CNRS, Inserm, iBV, France
  • A UNS teacher-researcher working within a UNS research team, such as the CRHI: Université Côte d’Azur, CRHI, France
  • A CNRS researcher in a joint project team of the LJAD: Université Côte d’Azur, CNRS, Inria, LJAD, France
  • An Inria reseacher in a joint project team of the LJAD: Université Côte d’Azur, Inria, CNRS, LJAD, France
  • An Inria reseacher in a (non-joint) project team: Université Côte d’Azur, Inria, France
  • A SKEMA teacher not affiliated with an UMR: Université Côte d’Azur, SKEMA, France
  • A hospital or university-hospital researcher in the C3M: Université Côte d’Azur, CHU, Inserm, C3M, France
Signature examples for partner personnel

The same rule holds for personnel within Université Côte d’Azur partners:

  • An Inserm researcher in the C3M: Université Côte d’Azur, Inserm, C3M, France
  • An INRA researcher in the ISA: Université Côte d’Azur, INRA, CNRS, ISA, France

Particular cases   :

  • A SKEMA teacher not affiliated with an UMR: Université Côte d’Azur, SKEMA, France
  • A hospital or university-hospital researcher in the C3M: Université Côte d’Azur, CHU, Inserm, C3M, France
