There are many programs which meet a multitude of needs, the challenge is to find the needle in the haystack! This FAQ arranges the main types of calls for projects by the key expectations of researchers and research professors.

...fund occasional exchange programs for students, researchers and administrative staff

• International Exchange credits: Exchange programs for students and higher education teaching staff (NB: project led by the university)
• Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE): staff exchange projects between a laboratory and one or more companies from other European countries.
• Joint Masters: project supporting programs of excellence and programs for any discipline offering scholarships to the best students in the world over a two-year period. 

...support young researchers at the start of their careers in developing their potential

• Individual Fellowships (IF) : research projects with European or international exchange programs (tool to recruit a post-PhD)
• European Research Council Starting (ERC) : basic/exploratory research projects based on scientific excellence open to candidates who have obtained their thesis within the last seven years
• Young Researchers (JCJC): individual, exploratory and innovative research projects led by a young researcher

• ERA-NET : Cross-national collaborative projects addressing societal challenges identified by several national research funding agencies in Europe

• Enterprise Collaborative Research Projects (PRCE): collaborative research projects between public and private entities that must be open to the corporate world
• International Collaborative Research Project (ICRP): collaborative research projects between public entities in a national context
• Inter-ministerial funds (FUI) : collaborative research and development projects accredited by the competitiveness clusters
• Conseil Régional Sud Provence-Alpes Côte d’Azur (AAP general research) : collaborative research projects in line with the regional strategy between at least two research laboratories financing at least one piece of equipment and able to accommodate PhD students (jobs for young PhD students)
• Conseil Régional Sud Provence-Alpes Côte d’Azur (AAP research platform) : technological platform projects open to both public laboratories and companies
• Conseil Régional Sud Provence-Alpes Côte d’Azur (AAP exploratory research) : projects designed to open up new areas of creativity and concerns innovative projects based on ideas that could open up new research avenues.

• EIC Pathfinder : projects promoting collaborative and interdisciplinary research and innovation to develop the technologies of the future
• EIC Accelerator : for VSEs and SMEs to develop and market new products, services and business models that can stimulate economic growth and shape new markets or disrupt existing ones both in Europe and worldwide.

...strengthen the European Research Area

• COST : projects aimed at encouraging networking among research and innovation communities in Europe. Its objective: to reinforce scientific and technological research by supporting cooperation through networking activities.
• Teaming : projects aimed at creating new centers of excellence or strengthening existing centers within the Widening countries by supporting leading scientific institutions.
• Twinning : projects aimed at strengthening a specific field of research in a university (or research organization) from a Widening country through the support of two leading international research institutions (including universities) in other Member States or associated countries.
• ERA Chairs : projects aimed at creating appropriate conditions and training researchers and managers within a university (or research organization) in a Widening country.
