The thesis can only be defended and the doctoral degree awarded upon completion of the doctoral coursework, which in principle consists of ninety hours divided as follows:

  • 30 hours of discipline-specific or academic courses.
  • 30 hours of professional training.
  • 30 hours of electives (discipline-specific, academic or professional).

For a successful transition to the professional world, it is essential to master communication skills, know the tools that improve professional effectiveness, understand the complex ecosystem of teaching, master foreign languages, and be familiar with management techniques. A doctoral degree provides greater opportunities to pursue a career in the public or private sector.
The courses offered at Université Côte d'Azur during the doctoral program are taught by different organizations.
Discipline-specific or academic courses are organized by the Research Units, Graduate Schools (EUR) and Doctoral Schools (ED).
Professional training is provided by the Université Côte d'Azur HR Training and Skills Management Department.
Technical training is mainly provided by the university libraries (User Training and Pedagogical Innovation) or by the Regional Unit for Scientific and Technical Training (Unité Régionale de Formation à l'Information Scientifique et technique - URFIST).
