In this interview, we speak with Lika AMBROSISHVILI enrolled in the second year of the MSc Modeling for Neuronal and Cognitive Science program.

Lika, originally from Telavi, Georgia, is a distinguished graduate of San Diego State University Georgia, where she earned her degree in Computer Science with honors, graduating cum laude. Passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology, Lika has set her sights on a career in research. With a deep interest in Computer Vision, she plans to further her academic journey by pursuing a Ph.D., where she hopes to contribute to advancing this cutting-edge field.

You're doing the MSc in Modeling for Neuronal and Cognitive Science. Tell us a bit more about what you are learning in this programme.

ModNeuroCog is a two-year master's program combining cognitive and neurosciences with computer science. This program gives us the chance to gain theoretical knowledge during classes and practical experience during three different internships in university laboratories. My classmates and I come from different academic backgrounds, which enables us to share our knowledge with each other and fill the gaps each of us had before enrolling in this master's program.

Why did you choose Université Côte d'Azur?

Université Côte d’Azur offers amazing master's programs that really focus on giving students great internship opportunities. Plus, being located in Sophia Antipolis—a famous technopole—is a huge bonus. With so many university campuses and companies around, it’s the perfect place for me to explore and build my future career.

Did you prepare yourself in any special way before leaving?

Before coming France, I made sure I had an accommodation, visa and other documents ready. Most exiting part was creating the list of places I wanted to visit on the French Riviera and rest of the France.

What were your first impressions when you arrived on the French Riviera? Did it match the image in had in your mind?

I fell in love with the French Riviera the day I arrived here. The combination of the sea and snowy mountains in one place feels like a dream come true. The weather is almost always sunny and warm, which makes it even more special. The Côte d’Azur is perfect for spending time with friends, whether it’s exploring the charming city architecture, relaxing in cafes and bars, or simply walking along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice—it all makes me feel so lucky to study here. And let’s not forget the incredible nearby cities like Cannes, Monaco, and Menton, which are some of the best destinations to enjoy, especially in the summer. The French Riviera has completely exceeded my expectations.

What advice would you give to other students considering studying in Université Côte d’Azur?

If I were to give advice to students considering studying at Université Côte d’Azur, I’d say it’s all about finding the perfect balance between learning, exploring future opportunities in Sophia Antipolis, and enjoying life on the French Riviera. It’s an ideal place to experience a full and vibrant student life. So, believe in yourself and don’t miss the chance to be part of this amazing journey.
One tip: before coming here, try to learn some basic French. It will make things much easier when communicating in transport, shops, or with locals—it’s a small effort that goes a long way!

On Wednesday, 22nd January, 2pm, we will be hosting a live chat to answer questions from prospective students interested in the MSc Modeling for Neuronal and Cognitive Science program. This event will give attendees the opportunity to meet Chloé BOURGEOIS, M.Sc. ModNeuroCog Coordinator & NeuroMod Institute Office Manager, Lika AMBROSISHVILI, M.Sc. ModNeuroCog Student (Year 2) and Sandra CHLEBOWSKI, Idex International program officer.
Everyone is invited and warmly welcomed to join our presentation and ask their questions! Registration is free but mandatory
