In 2022, the consortium led by Université Côte d'Azur and comprising the CNRS, EURECOM, Inria, Inserm and Skema Business School, won the France 2030 Compétences et Métiers d'Avenir state competition for its École Française de l'Intelligence Artificielle project; EFELIA Côte d'Azur has been awarded 8 million euros in funding from 2022 to 2027 to expand AI training. EFELIA Côte d'Azur is thus the only CMA project providing AI training in the South Region—Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur.

Operated by Université Côte d'Azur, the project covers a range of courses from Bac -3 to Bac +8, as well as continuing education for staff of public bodies and companies.

The aim of the EFELIA Côte d'Azur project is to develop training and education in AI for all publics, enabling them to grasp the advances in AI in their respective fields of expertise, but also to grasp the current challenges of these methods. In this way, EFELIA Côte d'Azur brings the most relevant knowledge and skills to scientific, economic and social fields, for the most sustainable progress.
Between September 2022 and November 2024, 11,000 more people are already enrolled in new courses on artificial intelligence.

Through its training programs for various audiences (students, teachers, and staff at public and private institutions), EFELIA Côte d’Azur helps to foster a scientific, technical, and practical culture around AI—one that seeks neither to glorify nor to disparage the field a priori, but rather to understand its foundations, how it works, its potential benefits, as well as its limitations, risks, and challenges (particularly environmental and ethical ones).

To this end, EFELIA Côte d’Azur helps colleagues from various disciplines develop the most relevant AI courses by collaborating with numerous university units, particularly academic departments, research schools, and undergraduate programs.
