The establishment of the network of Partnership, Commercialization, and Innovation Liaisons (CPVI) aims to increase support for research commercialization at Université Côte d’Azur.
The commercialization of research and expertise generated by its laboratories is an integral part of Université Côte d’Azur’s activities. In addition to conducting research, its community of researchers is tasked with protecting and commercializing these findings to contribute to France’s global influence and economic progress.
Conducted in collaboration with numerous partners in the innovation ecosystem, such as SATT Sud Est, CNRS Innovation, the PACA Est Incubator, and co-sponsoring institutions (INSERM, INRAE, INRIA, LRD, Mines ParisTech...), these commercialization and technology transfer initiatives can take several forms: partnerships and expert consultations with industry partners, the creation of joint laboratories with companies, patent filings and technology transfers via licensing to the industrial sector, or the creation of startups by our own researchers, engineers, and faculty members.
In this regard, Université Côte d’Azur and the CNRS Côte d’Azur Regional Delegation allocate a substantial annual budget to research commercialization initiatives and support the implementation of several hundred research projects. In the Côte d’Azur region, five joint laboratories in partnership with industry have been established, more than 60 startups have been created since 2000, and nearly 200 patents have been filed since 2015.
The creation of a shared network of Partnership, Commercialization, and Innovation Liaisons (CPVI) has therefore been initiated to strengthen this momentum, drawing on men and women who are closely connected to the scientific community and experts in its challenges. Serving as essential liaisons to promote the commercialization of public research among unit staff and industrial partners, these correspondents are tasked in particular with guiding research teams in their efforts and fostering interactions between the units and the commercialization services.
This initiative, implemented by the Directorate of Research and Innovation Commercialization, will increase support for research commercialization within Université Côte d’Azur, while aligning with the European “Human Resources Strategy for Researchers” (HRS4R ) label (2022–2027 action plan).
