Prerequisites

Functional neuroimaging consists in visualizing the activity of the living brain. This electric, or metabolic, activity is typically represented as 3D images in "voxel" space, or time-courses of activity of a specific brain area. Quite complex processes are required to produce such images or time-courses, from the raw data produced by recording devices. In this module, students learn the details of methods used for signal processing, inverse problems and statistics and apply them to functional neuroimaging and electrophysiology. Several data recording modalities are considered: electro- and magneto-encephalography, Local Field Potentials, functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging, functional Near InfraRed Spectroscopy.
