Prof.-Dr.-Ing. Erwin FRANQUET is a Full Professor with a Ph.D. degree from Université Aix-Marseille (2006) and an habilitation from University of Pau (2016), having also a former background of engineer in the field of energy and thermal engineering. He has managed the MSc programme « Energy in industry » in the ENSGTI engineering school for 8 years, during his 13 years in Pau, before joining the Civil Engineering and Smart Buildings department in Polytech Nice Sophia engineering school, which he is now leading. His domain of research concerns the energy management at the buildings and districts scales, with a focus towards renewable energy and sustainable transition. This obviously involves all the energy technologies (from generation to storage), as well as the consumption’s side, that is to say both supply and demand. In addition to his skills in Physics and Computer Sciences, he followed lectures in Economics and Laws to develop and coordinate several projects with trans-disciplinary approaches, and has also worked with Laws researchers and economists from both academic and industrial world (such as EY, one of the big four). His current researches are focused towards the adaptation to climate change and sustainable development, yet with an holistic viewpoint which aims at fostering multi-disciplinary approaches so as to increase the success of the proposed changes and to avoid technological-only solutions.
