Emilie Demoinet is a PhD in biology, in charge of Eco-responsible mission at the University Cote d’Azur. During her research activities in McGill, in Canada then at the Valrose Biology Institute until 2017, she analyzed the long-term effects of an early life stress exposure in C.elegans and the role of epigenetic mechanisms. It was during this time that she noticed the extent of the waste problem in laboratories. This observation led her to design and propose a transdisciplinary project, jointly between the University, the CNRS and Inserm, with the objective to help researcher behaviour changes, reducing and (re)valorizing waste from research units. Thus, in 2018, she became the head of the eco-responsible mission at the Université Côte d'Azur. The aim of this mission is to involve the university community, to think together, propose and experiment the implementation of concrete actions to improve the quality of life in the workplace in connection with formation and research sustainable development and solidarity : such as sensibilization actions (zero waste, climate change issues, slow mobility), circular projects with formation programmes: implementation of composting on campuses and forest garden based on permaculture design, repair café, low tech projects, circular economy project, with the reuse of woods, plastic (outdoor advertising tarpaulin..) locally at the university.
