Erwin Franquet is a Full Professor holding a PhD from Aix-Marseille University (2006) and a habilitation from the University of Pau (2016), as well as a former engineering degree in Energy and Thermal Engineering. He directed the MSc program “Energy in Industry” at ENSGTI for eight years during his thirteen-year tenure in Pau, before joining the Civil Engineering and Smart Buildings Department at Polytech Nice Sophia, which he currently leads.

His research focuses on energy management at the building and neighborhood scales, with a particular emphasis on renewable energy and sustainable transitions. This includes all aspects of energy technology—from production to storage—as well as consumption, addressing both supply and demand.

In addition to his expertise in physics and computer science, he has taken courses in economics and law to develop and coordinate transdisciplinary projects, collaborating with legal scholars and economists from both academia and industry (including EY, one of the Big Four).

His current research is centered on climate adaptation and sustainable development, adopting a holistic perspective that promotes multidisciplinary approaches to enhance the effectiveness of proposed changes and avoid purely technological solutions.
