Christophe Den Auwer

Christophe Den Auwer is a Research Professor at Université Côte d’Azur. He earned his PhD in 1995 from Université de Paris XI and McGill University. He then completed postdoctoral research at the Laboratory for the Use of Electromagnetic Radiation (LURE) in Orsay and joined the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) as a staff scientist in 1997.

In 2002, he was awarded a fellowship that enabled him to work at both the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory in the United States. In 2011, he joined Université Nice Sophia Antipolis (now Université Côte d’Azur) as a Full Professor, integrating the Institut de Chimie de Nice (ICN), where he leads the Human and Environmental Radiochemistry Team and serves as Deputy Director of the Institute.

His research focuses on environmental and human radiochemistry, particularly the fate and impact of radioisotopes in the hydrosphere, biotope, and humans.

He is also Director of the Academy of Excellence “Space, Environment, Risk and Resilience” and one of the 12 experts who joined the European University Association’s Green Deal Working Group, which aims to strengthen the recognition and engagement of universities as key stakeholders in advancing the European Green Deal.
