CALL FOR POSTDOC APPLICATIONS 2024 “EXCELLENCE FELLOWSHIPS FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS 2024”

This call will enable young high-level scientists to join a laboratory of Université Côte d'Azur for a period of 24 months.

Candidates should first get in touch with a research laboratory or a group from Université Côte d’Azur (https://univ-cotedazur.fr). Together, the candidate and the local host will come up with an original research program and submit the application through our dedicated platform Nuxéo.

The laureates are expected to apply for a permanent position (associate professor or researcher) at Université Côte d’Azur or one of its partner institutions, or to submit an application for an ERC grant.

Funding and benefits

The successful candidates will be offered a fixed-term contract of 24 months with an attractive gross monthly salary (brut mensuel) of 3,520 euros.

An operating budget of 5,000 euros for the duration of the project will also be provided.

Additionally, they are eligible for a temporary furnished accommodation at the University Côte d’Azur Faculty Club, with the first month provided free of charge.

Finally, the Welcome Center provides information, assistance with paperwork, and personalized support both before and during the laureates' stay at the University Côte d’Azur.

Eligibility

The candidate must hold a university doctorate or PhD ; the thesis must have been defended before submitting the application.

The candidate must have defended a doctoral thesis within the 4 years prior to the closing date for applications: the thesis must therefore have been defended after April 12, 2020.

Selection and timeline

Applications will be reviewed by an interdisciplinary committee consisting of internal and external experts. Selection criteria are (in decreasing order of importance):

• Ability to meet the objectives of the call for applications.
• Quality of the candidate's CV (degrees, publications, caliber of the career plan).
• The scientific quality of the proposed project (importance of the topic addressed, originality and technical feasibility that takes into consideration the duration of the contract).
• Quality of the host laboratory and of the supervisor's CV (publications, scientific and technical environment, etc.).
• Suitability of the host laboratory to carry out the research project.
• Alignment of the project with the strategic programs of IdEx of Université Côte d’Azur (see list in the appendix of the call) will be an asset.

The deadline to apply is April 12, 2024. All applicants will be informed about the results in June 2024. The start of the scholarship, that will be agree on with the host, is no later than January 30, 2025.

Application documents and contact

The application files must be submitted by the host on Nuxéo, the IdEx project management plateform. All the requested documents must be combined in a single PDF file named as follows: candidateSURNAME-candidateNAME-POSTDOC-IDEX-2024.

The first recommendation letter relating to the candidate (a letter of recommendation relevant to the submitted project) must be sent in a separate email by the author to: idex.recherche@univ-cotedazur.fr.
