Université Côte d'Azur's ODD 10

SDG 10 (Sustainable Development Goal) aims to reduce inequalities within and between countries. For Université Côte d'Azur, this goal is particularly relevant. The institution, as a place of learning and research, has a crucial role to play in building a more equitable society. How is Université Côte d'Azur helping to reduce inequalities? This article explores the various initiatives implemented to promote equal opportunities and foster social inclusion.

What is ODD 10? Better understanding

SDG 10, or Sustainable Development Goal 10, aims to reduce inequalities both within and between countries. It is a call to build a more just and equitable world, where opportunities are distributed more equally. This goal recognizes that economic, social and political inequalities are a major obstacle to sustainable development and peace. Reducing these disparities not only improves the living conditions of the most disadvantaged, but also strengthens social cohesion and stimulates long-term economic growth. MDG 10 therefore calls for policies to promote equal opportunities, combat discrimination and ensure a fairer distribution of resources.

Dedicated structures

Service Action Sociale: The Université Côte d'Azur offers a Social Service to help students facing difficulties. A team of social workers is available on the various campuses (Nice, Sophia, Menton) to inform students of their rights and help them in areas such as access to housing, healthcare and financial aid. Information meetings are organized at the beginning of the year to present these schemes. Students can also apply for a waiver of tuition fees in the event of financial difficulties, and the university collaborates with various organizations such as CROUS and CAF to offer appropriate support. The AGORAé service, a solidarity grocery store, gives the most disadvantaged students access to low-cost food products and personalized support.

Ethics mission: The Université Côte d'Azur attaches great importance to ethics and scientific integrity. A referent is appointed by the President to oversee these issues. His or her missions include training and raising awareness of scientific integrity among staff and students through programs such as MOOCs and specialized training courses. The university has three ethics committees to support research: the Comité d'Éthique de la Recherche, the Comité d'Éthique en Expérimentation Animale, and the Comité de Protection des Personnes. These initiatives are part of a national and European framework, reinforced by texts such as the Corvol Report and the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity. They aim to prevent scientific fraud and promote good practice.

Gender Equality Mission:The mission of Université Côte d'Azur's gender equality unit is to identify and prevent discrimination linked to gender stereotypes and to promote professional equality between women and men within the establishment. It is aimed at everyone, from managers and teaching, research and administrative staff to the student community. An "equality" network is made up of representatives from the various members of the Université Côte d'Azur. Its role is to identify needs, carry out concerted and/or shared actions, disseminate information and communicate within Université Côte d'Azur and beyond.
