The Engagement Center

The Engagement Center is a program designed to encourage and promote the civic commitment of Université Côte d'Azur students. It supports students in carrying out activities in the general interest, as a complement to their course of study and in line with the values promoted by the university, as well as with the sustainable development goals (ODD) set by the University.and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the member states of the United Nations.

Several types of commitment valued

In accordance with the French Equality and Citizenship Act no. 2017-86 of January 27, 2017, Université Côte d'Azur encourages and values different types of commitmentsby its students alongside their course of study:

  • Institutional " commitments (army reservists, volunteer firefighters, civic servicevolunteers, etc.)
  • Community service" commitments (European projects, ecological transition, scientific mediation, etc.)
  • Student life " commitments (student members of student association boards, students elected to central councils, Crous, etc.)
  • Commitments to " civil society ": volunteer missions co-constructed with local or international NGOs, such as Secours Populaire Français, the Salvation Army, the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux, and many others...


A wide variety of missions are offered to students in connection with these partner structures on theEngagement Center digital platform : support and tutoring (ODD4, 10, 8, 12), distribution of solidarity meals (ODD2, 1, 10, 12), solidarity actions in favor of orphanages (ODD1, 10, 16), eco-responsible initiatives within the university or with the City of Nice (ODD11, 13, 3, 15, 9).

The Commitment Bonus

Engage in missions and earn +0.25 points on your semester average.
The Commitment Bonus is earned in exchange for a minimum of 20 hours devoted to the chosen mission.

Recognition of acquired skills

In line with the Competency-Based Approach that Université Côte d'Azur is gradually deploying across all its training courses, the Engagement Center is working onthe recognition, assessment and valorization of the skills that students develop in the field (adaptation, creativity, collective organization, etc.).
