Training content
The DMaLSE project Training Decomplex is a certified science-based training for managers and experts involved in nuclear decommissioning projects (NDP). The Decomplex training programme is designed to help trainees develop a deeper understanding of NDPs as complex endeavours. Its ultimate objective is to provide trainees with guidelines for effective management of complex NDPs, ensuring their safety and efficiency throughout their lifecycle.The training results in a certified University Diploma (Master’s-level) in the field of management and leadership for safety applied to decommissioning projects.

Target audience
Early and mid-career managers and experts in INSC countries working for operators, regulatory bodies and technical support teams within the nuclear sector; persons presently or potentially involved in the management of nuclear decommissioning projects.
Teaching method
The training is based on an modern hybrid pedagogical methodology, with three phases to enable in-depth learning:
1) Worlwide access to Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) (available in 2025)
- 30 learning hours to introduce key concepts of safety management, organisational design, leadership and project management
- 20 learning hours to focus on the key challenges of complex project management in general and managing complexity in NDPs in particular
- Understanding key concepts and theoretical framework
- Pedagogical tools and methods adapted to online training
2) Two-week face-to-face session
- In-depth concepts and theories (lectures by senior academic & nuclear safety experts)
- Reflexive debriefing
- Case studies
Small class size will encourage discussions and participation. Mentor-led discussion sessions with participants will focus on the practical application of knowledge and experience sharing.
3) Four remote sessions
Interactive topic sessions to consolidate the acquired knowledge and to ensure sustainable training success.
