Université Côte d'Azur's ODD 1

Eradicating poverty in all its forms, everywhere in the world, such is the ambitious goal set by SDG 1 (Sustainable Development Goals). This challenge, far from being confined to developing countries, also concerns developed societies and higher education institutions such as Université Côte d'Azur. As a key player in education, research and innovation, the institution has a crucial role to play in implementing this objective. How can Université Côte d'Azur contribute to the fight against poverty?

What is ODD 1? Better understanding

SDG 1 is the first of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015.

Sustainable Development Goal 1, "Eradicate poverty in all its forms everywhere in the world", is a universal call to action. It invites us to build a world where everyone can live in dignity and have access to the resources they need to flourish.

Institutional commitments to ODD 1

  • Generating knowledge: By conducting research into the causes of poverty, developing inclusive economic models and assessing the impact of social policies.
  • Training future agents of change: By raising students' awareness of poverty issues and providing them with the tools they need to devise innovative solutions.
  • Developing partnerships: By working with local, national and international players to implement concrete projects aimed at reducing poverty.
