Cécile Sabourault
Cécile Sabourault has served as Vice President for International Affairs at Université Côte d’Azur since its creation in January 2020. She is also a Professor of Biology at the LIFE Doctoral School.
She obtained a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Cellular Pharmacology from Université Nice Sophia Antipolis in 1999. After a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Arizona (Tucson), she returned to Université Nice Sophia Antipolis as an Associate Professor.
She currently leads the ECOSEAS Laboratory (Ecology and Conservation Science for Sustainable Seas). Her research focuses on marine community ecology (ecophysiology, environmental genomics, and chemical ecology). She develops innovative tools for biodiversity monitoring, including environmental DNA (eDNA) and AI-based biosurveillance. Her interests also include sustainable fisheries and the management of marine protected areas.
She has received several research grants, including a prestigious ANR Young Researcher Award, and has coordinated multiple academic programs, such as a Master’s degree and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biology.
As Vice President for International Affairs, she is committed to making Université Côte d’Azur a globally engaged and open institution.
