Université Côte d'Azur's ODD 16

SDG 16 (Sustainable Development Goal) aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, ensure access to justice for all, and build effective institutions at all levels. Université Côte d'Azur, as a space for dialogue and reflection, has an important role to play in promoting peace, justice and good governance. What is ODD 16? Better understanding

SDG 16 aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies, ensure access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels. This is a crucial objective, as peace, justice and solid institutions are the foundations of sustainable development. SDG 16 encompasses a wide range of issues, from reducing violence and crime to fighting corruption, strengthening the rule of law and protecting human rights. In short, this goal aims to create a safe and equitable environment where everyone can live in dignity and contribute to the progress of their community.

Corporate commitment to SDG 16

MDG 16, "Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development", aims to build societies where peace, justice and inclusion prevail. Université Côte d'Azur, aware of the importance of these issues, is actively engaged in the search for solutions to strengthen social cohesion and promote sustainable development.

Université Côte d'Azur conducts multidisciplinary research on issues of social justice, governance, conflict and peace. The University's researchers study the root causes of inequality, develop tools to prevent conflict and strengthen social cohesion, and contribute to the training of responsible, committed citizens. Through its work, the University helps to enlighten public debate and inform political decision-makers.

Based on its research, it trains future players in civil society and professionals in the public and private sectors, equipping them to meet the challenges of a constantly changing world.

Dedicated structures

EUR LEX: EUR Lex is home to some 3,000 students and over 80 teaching and research staff. It coordinates a range of over 40 courses, including 15 sandwich courses, in the major disciplines of law and political science, with a particular focus on Masters programs. EUR Lex plays a central role in the organization of teaching, facilitates the dissemination of research and supports the professional integration of students. It also supervises state diplomas, ensuring that they meet market needs. With 6 research laboratories, it is a key player in law and political science research at the Université Côte d'Azur.

Chair in Peace and Development through Law: The P2D Chair, created in May 2022 by an agreement between the Université Côte d'Azur and UNESCO, promotes international law on peace and development through a multidisciplinary approach. Its fields of action include human security law, international humanitarian law, disarmament law and the law of the sea. Drawing on an international network of universities, the Institute for Peace and Development (IdPD) aims to meet the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular MDG 16 on peace and justice. The Chair trains students, generates knowledge, engages young people through innovative programs and strengthens North-South partnerships, while working closely with UNESCO.

Clinique Juridique: The Clinique Juridique Nice Côte d'Azur, supported by the Faculty of Law and Political Science, is an association offering free, personalized legal advice. With a philanthropic approach, it places the human aspect at the heart of its action, responding to the real needs of people in difficulty. Student clinicians, supervised by legal professionals such as lawyers, notaries and jurists, intervene in a variety of fields, including employment law, business law, taxation and civil law. The program is aimed at both individuals and corporate entities.
