Université Côte d'Azur's ODD 12

SDG 12 (Sustainable Development Goal) aims to establish sustainable modes of consumption and production. Université Côte d'Azur, aware of the environmental issues linked to consumption, is carrying out a number of research projects and actions to promote a circular economy and reduce the environmental impact of our activities. From eco-design to waste reduction, this article explores the different facets of ODD 12 and highlights the university's contributions to more responsible consumption.

What is ODD 12? Better understanding

SDG 12 aims to establish sustainable consumption and production patterns. In other words, it's about consuming and producing responsibly, minimizing our impact on the environment and preserving natural resources for future generations.

This objective encourages the adoption of more environmentally-friendly practices, such as waste reduction, the promotion of recycling, the use of sustainable products and energy efficiency. It also aims to make consumers and producers aware of the importance of their choices, and to encourage them to adopt more responsible behaviors. In short, SDG 12 aims to build a circular economy, where resources are used optimally and waste is minimized.

Dedicated structures

Eco-responsible mission: The Université Côte d'Azur's "Eco-responsible campuses and laboratories" mission, created in 2018, reports to the Vice-President of University and Campus Life. Comprising civic service volunteers, interns, student communications contracts, and a master composter, it aims to unite the university community around eco-responsible projects. Working with students, staff volunteers and associations, the mission promotes sustainable actions by raising awareness of environmental issues, encouraging behavioral change and fostering innovation. It uses the 5R methodology (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Return to the Earth) to reduce waste and promote the circular economy.
