MSc RISKS student to attend COP26

One of our M2 students, Alejandra Verde Medina, has been invited to attend the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, United Kingdom this November.

Alejandra will accompany Christophe Den Auwer, who will be representing Université Côte d'Azur’s Academy 3 at the conference from 2 to 8 November 2021. 

After being postponed for a year due to the current health crisis, COP26 will be held in Glasgow (United Kingdom) from November 1 to 12, 2021. Almost 200 world leaders and thousands of representatives (governments, scientists, companies, NGOs, etc.) from all around the world and from many different organisations are expected to attend the conference. These two weeks of negotiations are aimed at accelerating actions in favor of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

There are four major challenges for COP26:
  1. Secure global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach
  2. Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats
  3. Mobilise finance
  4. Work together to deliver
