In late September 2023, MSc Risks M1, M2 and alumni students went together on a 3-day hiking trip to the Vallée des Merveilles in Tende, South-East France.

During the trip, our students went on a hike to the Vallée des Merveilles and had a tour of the glacial valley. They enjoyed the wonderful nature views, and were treated to sightings of chamoix that inhabit the area. They also had the unique opportunity to explore the historical rock carvings, known as "gravures rupestres," which provided a fascinating glimpse into the past.

One of the remarkable achievements of the trip was the ascent of the Pas de l'Arpette, where every student successfully reached an impressive height of 2511 meters. This challenging climb undoubtedly instilled a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie.

The students were graciously hosted at the "Refuge des Merveilles," an off-grid haven free from the distractions of phones and the internet. This intentional disconnect allowed them to forge deeper connections, fostering an environment for meaningful socialization and getting to know one another on a profound level. The refuge staff's warm welcome and the delightful company of fellow adventurers made this experience all the more memorable.

This excursion served as a well-deserved break for our students, offering them a chance to rejuvenate amidst nature's wonders while strengthening their bonds.
